Making of La Validee un Bas - Holly Tomkins
Untitled-1

Mookie model shop

It was the night before summer and a commission was proposed to create a beast to jump on your toes.
HAHA cried the magician such an easy task for all I need is potions and a flask.

Now out came the caldron to muster the spell and a list of ingredients she called to here elves;

‘Now pass me some plasterzote to use for his shell cotton tape, glue sticks and calico as well.
A blade shall be needed to shape his body, a scalpel, a rasp a kneedle and honey.
To cover his skin I shall require purple lycra, pink, green and maybe saliva.

The cauldron bubbles and smokes a little as wadding and pins are added to the hubble, stirring around the special brew spray mount, reticulated foam starting the stew.

Five minutes have passed and the magician is happy for ingredients she has ready and helpers a plenty.
The monster designed and the plasterzote cut, the pieces fit together without a fuss.
A magician is strong and although healthy a respirator to be worn for ones own safety.
The monster is formed but needs a good tidy
a rasp must be used on the joins for his safety.
Cotton tape and glue sticks to strengthen his edges as failure could cause his guts out in all places.
The magician looks happy with the beast in her midst but something is missing perhaps a fish?
‘No!’ the magician what a silly thought ‘A tongue!’ is what is needed to finish the look.
Green lycra is foraged and cut in to shape to cover a foam tongue and put into place.

Now the magician is tired and her cauldron is dirty ‘shall I buy his leggings or make them real sturdy?’

His hands are big and luckily clumsy with only two fingers and one little thumbsy. Reticulated foam, glued with adhesive and tidied with the rasp and hot glue adhesive.

The magician is weary as the monsters almost mobile, but feet are required for the monster you see now.
The magician cuts a template from Plasterzote sheet, a base for the monsters toe stomping feet.
Foam is glued on the top to make them squashy and shaped like a beast all purple and softy.
‘HAHA’ screams the magician;
‘He’s alive and awake and ready to shake but the last thing needed his pupils.
To master control and see through his soul reticulated foam is a must. So with adhesive and patience his pupils are in place and the beast stomps monstrously off..
